Job Description
At SPD Technology, we bring together a team of like-minded people who are driven by the desire to bring value through their work, united in their commitment to high performance and delivering custom, cutting-edge tech solutions that drive clients' growth. We empower our people with a culture of excellence and enable them with the opportunity to uphold their accountability to contribute on each level. We value humanity and collaboration, encourage professional and personal growth, and foster a supportive and flexible work environment where everyone's contribution is welcomed.
And now we are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to join us as part of our team.
About Role
You'll join the Stream-Aligned Team, responsible for pitchbook.com, its core website experience, marketing-owned pages, profiles, lead generation flows, CMS integrations, and related automation infrastructure.
PitchBook — a platform for investment professionals. Our software provides access to data and the analytical tools to get answers fast and discover promising opportunities. Uncovers actionable insights and trends hidden within the financial data of more than three million companies. Users all over the world include large corporations, start-ups, venture capital and private equity firms, investment banks, and many others.
Our team leads both the development of the current custom-built website platform and the migration to the 3rd-party CMS — Brightspot. As part of this transformation, we continue to support and evolve the existing platform while building new UI modules, content types, and integration layers between PitchBook systems and Brightspot. This allows us to meet business needs across marketing, lead generation, content publishing, website scalability, and platform modernization.
This role is not only about writing automated tests. It is about helping the team own quality end to end: identifying risks, improving testability, debugging complex issues, supporting releases, and ensuring that owned components meet PitchBook engineering standards.
Technical Stack
Java 17+, Spring Boot 3.x, Rest Assured, Selenium, Selenide, Playwright, Gatling, TestContainers, OpenAPI, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, GCP, AWS.
Team setup: 1 Engineering Manager, 4 Full-Stack Engineers, 1 Back-End Engineer, 1 Front-End Engineer, 1 SDET.
Work Environment: The role offers a flexible work schedule while ensuring availability for team meetings. The team follows a Scrum-based Agile methodology.
As a qualified expert, you will.
- Own and continuously improve test automation frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated UI, API, integration, regression, smoke, and release validation tests.
- Support quality across PitchBook.com, the custom website platform, and the Brightspot CMS migration.
- Design automation strategies for CMS functionality, marketing pages, lead generation flows, and system integrations.
- Identify automation gaps, eliminate flaky tests, and improve release confidence.
- Investigate and debug issues across UI, backend services, APIs, databases, CMS, and distributed systems.
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to improve testability and reduce delivery risks.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and ensure stable automated test execution
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies, engineering discussions, release activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Take ownership of quality outcomes and help the team build quality into the delivery process.
