Job Description
This Junior CSS Developer role supports our ongoing engagement with a major Swedish retail group by building and maintaining the front-end styling for proprietary financial analysis tools. You will work as part of a distributed team to ensure that complex economic data is presented clearly and logically to help decision makers see the true cost of their operations.
About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.
The Role
In this entry level position, you will assist our technical team in creating clean, lightweight interfaces for the dashboards and calculators used by our consultants. Since Blue Oak is fully remote, you will manage your own time while collaborating with developers and financial analysts to turn raw data visuals into functional, easy to read web components. Our focus is on clarity and structural integrity rather than flashiness, mirroring our firm approach to analytical commercial decisions. You will spend your time refining how information is displayed to ensure that our clients, particularly those within the Swedish retail project, can consume complex data without unnecessary distraction.
What You Will Be Doing
- Writing and maintaining clean, modular CSS for internal financial modeling applications.
- Helping translate mockups into responsive HTML and CSS structures that prioritize data legibility.
- Collaborating with analysts to ensure that data visualizations are accessible and styled correctly according to project standards.
- Debugging layout issues and ensuring consistent performance across different web browsers used by our principal consultants.
- Participating in code reviews to learn best practices and maintain high code quality across our internal tools.
- Updating existing style systems to reflect changes in our reporting frameworks and client requirements.
- Ensuring that the user experience remains fast by keeping stylesheets efficient and avoiding unnecessary code.
- Adjusting layout components to accommodate varying data densities in financial reports.
