Job Description

System Test Engineer โ€“ Wireless Battery Management Systems (BMS)

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a System Test team responsible for validating advanced wireless Battery Management System (BMS) solutions used in automotive environments. These systems are developed by large multidisciplinary engineering teams following ASPICE-aligned development practices, making comprehensive verification a critical part of the product lifecycle.

This role focuses on planning, developing and executing system-level verification activities to ensure product quality, functionality and robustness. It requires a strong understanding of complex embedded systems, a structured approach to verification, and close collaboration with hardware, software, systems engineering, architecture, applications and quality teams.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Define and execute comprehensive system verification strategies based on product requirements and system specifications.
  • Design, develop and maintain automated and manual system test cases.
  • Verify functional behaviour, performance and system robustness throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Investigate, reproduce and analyse hardware and software issues identified during testing.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support issue resolution and continuous product improvement.
  • Contribute to test automation, regression testing and continuous integration processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree is advantageous).

Required Experience & Skills

  • Solid understanding of Systems Engineering principles and/or structured verification methodologies for complex embedded systems, ideally within the automotive industry.
  • Experience in system development or system verification within an ASPICE-aligned development environment.
  • Programming or scripting experience using C/C++ (embedded) and Python or similar languages.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills covering both hardware and software.
  • Experience working with automated test frameworks and validation tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD environments such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar.
  • Experience using version control systems and supporting regression testing activities (Git, GitHub or equivalent).
  • Practical experience with automated hardware validation and measurement equipment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with strong organisational abilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, hands-on and able to learn new technologies quickly.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of OTA (Over-the-Air) software update validation, secure boot processes and firmware signing.
  • Experience with automated software and system verification.
  • Exposure to wireless communication technologies or RF systems.
  • Experience with requirements management platforms such as Jama or IBM DOORS.
  • Background in verification of safety-related or functionally safe systems.
  • Experience operating within ASPICE-compliant engineering processes.
  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent testing qualification.

Additional Information

  • Suitable for experienced professionals.

The candidate must be willing to relocate or to travel to the client's factory. Costs of accommodation are supported by the client!
