I am currently partnering with an exciting, AI-first technology company that is building innovative copilot tools tailored for the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors. Their solutions empower Tier 1 and Tier 2 enterprise firms to make faster, data-driven design decisions.

The Challenge You Will Help Them Fix

My client is building complex AI workflows that require robust, scalable public cloud infrastructure. Currently, they have a critical gap: they are urgently looking for a deeply technical DevOps engineer who is also capable of stepping up into a client-facing capacity.

Many candidates they have interviewed prefer to sit back and strictly do monitoring or reporting, or they lack the deep networking fundamentals required to build secure systems. My client needs someone who can not only architect and enable AI workflows on the public cloud using Terraform, but who can also confidently explain complex cloud and networking concepts to their high-level Japanese enterprise clients. You will act as the crucial bridge between their English-speaking engineering team and their Japanese client base.

Duties:

As their new Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will:

• Design & Architect: Build and maintain scalable, highly available public cloud infrastructure (primarily Azure).
• Automate Everything: Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to deploy and manage environments.
• Master the Network: Design and troubleshoot core networking components (VNets, DNS, routing, NSGs, firewalls, load balancers).
• Enable AI Workflows: Support an engineering team building complex AI tools (their entire backend is Python; you need to be able to read and navigate it cleanly).
• Drive Client Communication: Act as the technical face of the DevOps team, leading client calls, explaining system architecture, and handling bug reporting in fluent Japanese.

Requirements:

• Cloud Experience: Strong, hands-on experience with Public Cloud architecture. Azure is heavily preferred; AWS experts must be able to design systems with Azure in mind. (Note: Private-cloud-only backgrounds will not be a fit for this role).
• Deep Networking Fundamentals: You must truly understand how systems communicate under the hood—this is critical for their architecture and a major focus of their technical interview.
• Automation: Proven experience building infrastructure with Terraform is mandatory.
• Coding/Scripting: Comfortable reading and working with Python codebases.
• Languages: Strictly JLPT N2, N1, or Native Japanese (essential for client communication) AND Fluent/Business English (essential for internal engineering collaboration).
• Mindset: A desire to build, optimize, and communicate. If you are only looking to do passive monitoring and reporting, this role will not be the right fit.
