Senior/Staff Software Engineer - AI Products & Infrastructure

• Location: New York City or San Francisco
• Base Salary: $200,000 – $300,000

We are hiring exceptional Senior and Staff Software Engineers to build the next generation of AI-powered products for a rapidly growing early-stage startup. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in high-ownership environments, enjoy solving complex infrastructure and product challenges, and have successfully built production-grade AI systems from the ground up.

You will work closely with executive leadership and engineering to architect scalable backend systems, integrate frontier AI models into production, and build products that directly impact thousands of users.

Seniority

• Senior Software Engineer: 5–7 years of software engineering experience
• Staff Software Engineer: 7–10 years of software engineering experience

Candidates must have experience owning products or major features end-to-end within early-stage engineering teams.

Must-Have Qualifications:

Startup Experience

• Proven experience at Seed to Series B technology startups.
• Strong ownership of products or major features from concept through production.

AI Experience

Candidates should have hands-on experience building 0-to-1 production AI products, including:

• Agentic AI systems
• Applied AI applications
• LLM-powered workflows
• AI agents deployed in production
• Foundation model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Claude, etc.)

Experience should include production deployment rather than experimentation only.

Domain Experience

Strong experience in one or more of the following domains:

• Agentic AI

• Matching & recommendation systems

• Integrate frontier foundation models into customer workflows.
• Architect scalable backend systems.

• Design and build production AI agents.
• Develop orchestration frameworks.
• Own evaluation infrastructure.
