Senior Process Engineer - Soft Covering Operations

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent in this role is responsible for standardizing and improving soft covering processes across all plants, ensuring efficiency, cost optimization, and product quality. This role oversees process development, automation, material selection, new product introduction, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and drive value addition.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Process Standardization & Optimization

• Develop and implement best practices for soft covering processes across plants.
• Identify and drive cycle time reduction and process automation initiatives.
• Optimize material utilization to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Conduct benchmarking and implement new technologies to enhance process capability.

2. Capacity Planning & Resource Optimization

• Define and maintain plant-wise capacity planning for soft covering operations.
• Identify machine and manpower requirements for optimal resource allocation.
• Ensure interplant transfers of equipment to balance production loads.

• Track and improve OEE/OPE metrics for soft covering operations.

3. New Product Development & Material Selection

• Validate soft covering processes for new product introductions (NPDs).
• Collaborate with design, R&D, and suppliers to select optimal raw materials.
• Develop and validate prototypes, production trials, and process parameters.
• Establish manufacturing feasibility studies for new projects.

4. Cost Reduction & Continuous Improvement

• Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives, including automation and lean projects.
• Drive process standardization across all polymer plants for efficiency gains.
• Improve product quality and defect reduction through data-driven problem-solving.
• Monitor and improve first-pass yield and scrap reduction metrics.

5. Technology & Automation Implementation

• Identify and integrate advanced technologies to enhance process efficiency.
• Drive robotic automation and smart manufacturing initiatives.
• Evaluate and implement new tools, jigs, and fixtures to improve consistency.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure uptime and reliability of soft covering equipment.

QUALIFICATION

• Minimum Qualification required: BE / B.Tech (Full-time)
• Preferred Qualification: ME / M.Tech / MBA

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 12-15 years of experience in soft covering processes, process standardization, and automation.

• Expertise in capacity planning, material selection, and process engineering.

• Strong knowledge of OEE, OPE, lean principles, and cost optimization techniques.

WORKING WEEK (5 days/Week): The position is based at our Corporate Office & requires the incumbent to work for 5 days / week.

REPORTING: The position reports to the Head ME - Body Parts.

RELOCATION: Outstation Candidates will have to RE-LOCATE to PUNE with Family and will be eligible to avail benefits under the Relocation Policy.
