Position Overview
This role sits at the intersection of HR operations and data engineering, responsible for building the reporting infrastructure that drives workforce decision-making across the HR function. The analyst will own end-to-end HR data pipelines — from querying source systems like Oracle HRMS, ADP, and SuccessFactors to delivering dashboards and automated reports that surface actionable insights. The ideal candidate brings deep SQL expertise, hands-on Cognos experience, and a strong grasp of HR data domains including the full employee lifecycle.
Role & Responsibilities
- Partner with HR business stakeholders to gather, document, and translate reporting requirements into scalable data solutions
- Design and develop list reports, crosstabs, charts, and interactive dashboards using Cognos Report Studio, Cognos Analytics, and Excel (pivot tables, VBA macros)
- Query and extract HR data from Oracle HRMS, ADP, SuccessFactors, Kronos, iCIMS, and SharePoint using SQL and PL/SQL
- Build and maintain automated data validation processes to ensure HR data integrity across all source systems
- Structure HR data to design event-driven and timeline-based reports covering the full Hire-to-Retire employee lifecycle
- Collaborate with IT, Data Warehousing, and BI Administration teams to ensure source system data availability for HR reporting projects
- Document technical reporting processes, data source diagrams, and system interaction flows; continuously refine and automate existing reports and databases

Must Have Criteria
- 4+ years of experience in operational reporting development and/or maintenance, with at least 2 years in an HR data or HRIS reporting context
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL proficiency — including inner/outer joins, case statements, cursors, and query optimization
- Hands-on experience with Cognos Analytics and Cognos Report Studio for building production-grade reports and dashboards
- Direct experience querying HR systems such as Oracle HRMS, ADP, SuccessFactors, or Kronos
- Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, slicers, V/H-lookups, and VBA macros
- Working knowledge of data warehouse concepts and relational database theory
- Familiarity with HR data governance, employee data confidentiality requirements, and government retention regulations
