Junior UI Developer

We are looking for a Junior UI Developer to help us build internal tools for one of our key partnerships. Our client is a global organization where we are currently working to fix the friction points in their day to day management and decision making processes. This is a fully remote role where you will help bridge the gap between our consulting advice and the actual digital tools the client uses to stay organized.

About the Role
At Olive Tree Consulting, we believe that good management is about making work easier to hold through better habits. We help leadership teams move away from a reliance on memory and toward a structured, written record of their choices and plans. This role exists to support that aim by developing clean, functional user interfaces for the systems where these records live. You will be helping to create the visual and interactive parts of tools that allow managers to track their rhythms, record decisions, and manage follow ups without any unnecessary complexity. This position is a permanent, full time role that allows you to work from anywhere as part of our remote first team.

What You Will Do
As a junior member of our technical team, your day to day work focuses on the practical execution of interface designs. Your tasks will include:

• Developing and maintaining user facing features using current web technologies.
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use across different internal projects.
• Translating design mockups and wireframes into high quality code.
• Ensuring the technical feasibility of UI designs and suggesting simpler alternatives when needed.
• Optimizing applications for speed and ensuring they work well across various browsers and devices.
• Collaborating with our consultants to understand how users interact with the tools we build.
• Writing clear documentation for the components you create so others can use them easily.
• Testing interfaces for bugs and fixing display issues that arise during daily use.

What We Are Looking For
We value people who are practical, organized, and more interested in building something useful than something flashy. For this entry level role, we are looking for the following attributes:

• A strong understanding of how the web works and a basic grasp of front end technologies.

Helpful Background
While this is an entry level role, there are a few things that might help you get up to speed quickly:

• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript principles.
• Some experience with a modern framework like React, Vue, or similar through personal projects or studies.
• Exposure to design tools like Figma or Adobe XD, even if just to inspect files.
• A general interest in user experience and how people navigate digital tools.
• Any previous experience working or studying in a remote setting.
• An understanding of version control basics, such as using Git.
