Job Description

CONTROLS ENGINEER | CHILDRESS, TX | UP TO $150K + BONUS + EQUITY

Location: Childress, TX. Onsite, full relocation package provided.

Package: Up to $150k base, plus bonus and equity (total comp around $200k). Full relocation, medical, dental and vision 100% company-paid for you (75% for dependents), 401(k) match, life and disability cover. No state income tax in Texas.

Overview:

We're supporting a NASDAQ-listed AI cloud infrastructure company building and operating large-scale GPU data centres across North America, delivering the power, cooling and compute behind AI training and inference at scale.

As they bring a major new liquid-cooled HPC site online, they're looking for a Controls Engineer to be the technical lead for automation and controls at the facility. This is a rare chance to own the controls behind some of the most advanced GPU infrastructure being built in the US right now.

Why join?

  • Work at the forefront of AI infrastructure, on liquid-cooled, direct-to-chip sites running the latest NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs at around 10x the density of a normal data centre
  • Be the technical authority on controls for the site, not a cog in a big team
  • Join a NASDAQ-listed business scaling its data centre footprint fast
  • Real autonomy across the full project lifecycle, from design through commissioning to operations
  • Strong package with equity, full relocation and no state income tax in Texas

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the design, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the automation and controls systems for a liquid/air-cooled HPC data centre
  • Owning the PLC and SCADA programming and developing the site's controls philosophy
  • Integrating the electrical and mechanical cooling systems (chillers, HVAC) into the control design
  • Bridging field-level controls into the enterprise monitoring and DCIM platforms
  • Acting as first point of contact for all controls and automation matters, working alongside the mechanical and electrical engineers
  • Coaching and training other staff on control systems and tools

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline and 10+ years in controls and automation in heavy industrial or mission-critical environments
  • Strong hands-on PLC and SCADA programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens or Ignition)
  • A solid grounding in control theory (PID loops and the like) and industrial comms protocols (Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus)
  • Good knowledge of electrical and mechanical cooling systems and their field devices

Nice to have:

  • Data centre experience and exposure to DCIM, BMS or EPMS platforms
  • Experience commissioning greenfield or mission-critical sites

Please note: you'll need to be authorised to work in the US, as sponsorship isn't available for this role.
