Lead the Technology Behind a Regulated Digital Asset Platform

Our client is a fast-growing, MiCA-licensed Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) operating at the intersection of finance, technology, and digital assets. As the business continues to scale across Europe, we are looking for an experienced Head of IT to lead the engineering organization and drive the next phase of growth. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of Frontend, Backend and QA teams while helping shape the future of regulated digital finance.

Your Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

• Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across Frontend, Backend and QA
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement
• Define scalable team structures, delivery processes, and career development frameworks
• Act as the senior technology advisor to executive leadership

Technology & Architecture

• Own and evolve the overall technical architecture
• Drive technical decision-making across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and tooling
• Ensure scalability, security, maintainability, and performance across all systems
• Balance innovation with operational stability in a highly regulated environment

Delivery & Execution

• Partner closely with Product and Business stakeholders to translate strategy into execution
• Establish reliable Agile delivery processes and predictable release cycles
• Manage engineering capacity, prioritization, and resource allocation
• Oversee external vendors and contractors where required

Quality, Security & Compliance

• Own the QA strategy, including test automation and release governance
• Continuously improve monitoring, observability, and incident response capabilities
• Ensure systems meet the standards expected of a regulated financial institution
• Collaborate closely with Compliance and Legal teams on audits, operational resilience, and security requirements

What We're Looking For

Required

• You are as much skilled in engineering as you are in leadership – preferably in international environments
• Track record of leading cross-functional engineering teams covering development and QA.
• Track record of international transformation and integration projects
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering
• 3+ years in an engineering leadership role such as Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, CTO, or similar
• Strong hands-on background in C# / .NET development

• Good understanding of modern frontend development, ideally Flutter
• Experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Experience within FinTech, Digital Assets, Crypto, or Financial Services
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as MiCA, DORA, or ISO 27001
• Experience with trading platforms, custody solutions, or high-availability financial systems
• Experience leading distributed remote-first teams
