About the Role
My client is a Tier-1 HFT Firm looking for a Windows Engineer to help run and continuously improve their internal Windows infrastructure; supporting the reliability of Windows-based services across server, desktop, and virtual environments.
You will help operate, automate, standardise, and enhance the Windows platform. You’ll collaborate with engineers across locations to troubleshoot issues, plan and execute deployments, and improve tooling and documentation. You will also work within a global infrastructure environment where performance, security, and operational stability are critical.

Key Responsibilities
- Improve, automate, and standardise the Windows environment to enhance reliability, scalability, and security
- Design, build, deploy, and support Microsoft Windows Server environments (including modern versions such as 2016/2019/2022 and beyond)
- Build and support multi-forest Active Directory environments and related identity services.
- Configure and maintain Group Policy, DNS, and core identity/Kerberos-related infrastructure
- Use PowerShell to automate deployment, configuration, monitoring, and operational workflows
- Configure monitoring and dashboarding to track server and application performance
- Manage and optimise Windows patching and enterprise update processes; support security hardening best practices
- Troubleshoot Windows operating systems and applications; provide escalation support where required (including 3rd-line escalation)
- Manage server backup and disaster recovery readiness; optimise backup performance and integrity
- Support security monitoring and operations using SIEM tools and related observability practices
- Work with storage and high-availability technologies (e.g., SAN/NAS)
- Support and optimise virtualization and related components (e.g., VMware ESXi, clustering, and infrastructure/network concepts)
- Provide support for end-user and access platforms where needed, including Citrix DaaS/VDI, Microsoft 365, and Intune
- Contribute to technical documentation, architecture designs, and support materials
- Stay informed about market trends and emerging technologies to propose improvements

Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 and/or Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022+
- Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and Kerberos concepts
- Proven ability to automate administration and infrastructure tasks using PowerShell (preferred) and/or Python and/or C#
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills across Windows infrastructure, including OS builds, configuration, and operational incidents
- Experience with performance monitoring and tuning for physical and/or virtual environments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and resolve complex issues efficiently
- Clear and concise communication skills, with a strong customer-service mindset for stakeholder queries
- A reliable, collaborative approach and the ability to work both independently and cross-functionally
- Fluent English
