Senior Middle-Level DevOps Engineer
This is a hybrid position. Applicants must reside in Gran Canaria or be willing to relocate before commencing employment. No full remote option.
Job Summar
We are looking for an experienced Senior Middle-Level DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure and CI/CD platforms that support our software development lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with Software Engineers, QA, Security, and Infrastructure teams to automate processes, improve deployment reliability, and ensure operational excellence.
As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor junior engineers, drive DevOps best practices, and contribute to architectural decisions that enable rapid and reliable software delivery.
The selected candidate will have 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and automated software delivery
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes
- Design and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure Kubernetes environments
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement preventive measures
- Collaborate with development teams to improve application reliability, scalability, and deployment strategies
- Implement and maintain observability solutions, including monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Ensure infrastructure complies with security best practices and organizational standards
- Perform capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and business continuity improvements
- Lead incident response activities, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews
- Mentor junior DevOps engineers and promote DevOps culture and best practices across engineering teams
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies and tools to improve platform efficiency and developer productivity
Participate in architecture discussions and infrastructure planning for new products and services

Knowledge and Experience
- Required
- Strong Linux system administration experience
- Extensive experience with containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher(or similar Kubernetes management platforms)
- Strong experience with Git and modern Git workflows
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools
- Experience with virtualization technologies: VMware, Proxmox
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions: Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Icinga ELK/OpenSearch
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and VPN technologies
- Experience implementing security best practices, including secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening
- Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and production environments
Nice to have
- Experience with public cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
- Knowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
- Experience with SRE principles including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
- Experience supporting microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and security standards

Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
- A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a related role
- Proficiency in the English Language
A bachelor's or master's degree is mandatory for applicants from outside the EU due to work permit requirements
