The opportunity

A well established Australian consultancy are looking for two Senior Data Engineer to join their enterprise data platform team on a 12 month contract You will be embedded within a growing data engineering function as part of an ambitious programme to ingest and transform complex trading data sources at scale, with real scope to shape how the platform is built from the ground up.

This is a genuinely senior role spanning hands-on pipeline engineering through to upstream data modelling and technical leadership, with a team scaling rapidly and early joiners carrying real influence over platform direction and engineering standards.

Your day to day will include:

• Designing and building production grade data pipelines on a modern cloud data platform, with Snowflake and dbt at the core
• Designing Data Vault models from scratch, working upstream from raw ingestion through to business logic separation across Hubs, Links, and Satellites
• Contributing to IaC deployments across cloud environments using Terraform, and working across AWS services including Lambda, EC2, ECS, and MSK
• Implementing secure by design principles throughout pipeline development, including encryption, access control, and credential management
• Conducting peer code reviews and security reviews for other engineers on the platform, setting and maintaining engineering standards
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to delivery engineers across the team
• Working with APIs and automation tooling to support platform management and operations

What you will bring

• Proven hands on experience with Snowflake in a production environment, with genuine depth across platform design and optimisation
• Strong dbt skills across transformation patterns, testing, and documentation in real delivery contexts
• Demonstrated Data Vault modelling experience built from scratch, including advanced concepts such as multi-active satellites and effectivity links

• The ability to design models that reflect how a business generates value upstream, not downstream reshaping of existing data for reporting purposes
• Python across data engineering and automation tasks
• AWS hands on experience across core services relevant to data platform engineering
• A secure by design mindset with the discipline to enforce it across your own work and the work of others

Advantageous

• Experience with Kafka or other streaming data technologies
• Terraform across AWS and Azure deployments
• Exposure to Streamsets, Kestra, or similar pipeline orchestration tooling
• Experience in trading, energy, or financial markets environments
• Familiarity with OAuth, OIDC, SAML, or enterprise authentication mechanisms
• OSI Pi or industrial timeseries historian integration experience
