Robotics Sensor Engineer – Embedded Platforms
Location: Abu Dhabi (Relocation Required)
Salary: €86,000 - €96,000
We are working with a fast-growing robotics company in Abu Dhabi looking for a hands-on Robotics Sensor Engineer to own sensor integration end to end across embedded platforms .You'll be working across cameras (visible and thermal), lidars, IMUs, GPS, magnetometers, and FCUs on NVIDIA Jetson hardware covering everything from hardware bring-up and driver development through to field testing and benchmarking.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring up and validate cameras (RGB, thermal/IR), lidars, IMUs, GPS/RTK and FCUs on NVIDIA Jetson platforms (Orin, AGX, NX).
- Write or adapt ROS 2 and embedded Linux drivers across MIPI CSI-2, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, GigE Vision, and USB protocols.
- Participate in outdoor test campaigns, setting up sensor rigs, monitoring data quality, and diagnosing issues in real-world conditions.
- Diagnose hardware failures across optics, power integrity, EMI, grounding, and environmental protection.
- Characterize sensors against accuracy, latency, and SWaP requirements and evaluate emerging hardware candidates.
- Develop and maintain intrinsic/extrinsic calibration pipelines across sensor types, optimized for embedded boards.

Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Proven track record integrating heterogeneous sensor suites on robotic platforms.
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson (JetPack/L4T): BSP adaptation, CSI/USB camera bring-up, power and thermal profiling, multi-sensor scheduling.
- Strong embedded Linux skills: device tree, V4L2, kernel modules, and key interface protocols.
- Experience writing or porting ROS/ROS 2 drivers on resource-constrained hardware.
- Solid hardware debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
- Familiarity with camera optical principles and common failure modes.
- IMU and GNSS/RTK integration experience including sensor fusion fundamentals.
- Comfortable operating in outdoor field environments under varying conditions.
- Strong communicator, able to collaborate across robotics, perception, navigation, and embedded systems teams.

- Thermal/IR camera expertise including radiometric calibration, NUC correction, and enclosure design.
- Lidar point cloud processing and lidar-camera extrinsic calibration.

- Experience with ARM-based embedded SoCs or custom boards.
