About The Role
Gray Media is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join the Gray Digital Development CloudOps team. This fully remote role involves collaborating closely with our Staff Engineer and development teams to design, deploy, and maintain robust cloud infrastructure and services within Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Cloud Engineer will play a vital role in assisting developers with secure application deployment, enhancing system reliability, and building scalable cloud architectures for both public-facing products and internal platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS, a passion for cloud architecture, automation, and DevOps practices, and a desire to work across multiple teams and applications. The ideal candidate should possess at least 2+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS in a professional or production environment. Proficiency in building or supporting applications utilizing AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, or RDS is essential. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform is required. Candidates should have experience using Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration, along with a solid understanding of RESTful APIs and basic web application architecture. Troubleshooting skills related to deployments, application errors, and cloud service issues are necessary. A good grasp of monitoring and logging via CloudWatch, as well as authentication and authorization concepts like OAuth and identity providers, is also important. Responsibilities
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure tailored for web applications and internal systems. Developing and supporting serverless applications using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB will be a core part of the role. The engineer will support and enhance CI/CD pipelines leveraging AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, and related automation tools to streamline deployment processes. Collaborating with developers to review AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) infrastructure code and deployment strategies is essential. The role also involves maintaining authentication services with Amazon Cognito, configuring and monitoring application logs, metrics, alarms, and uptime reporting through CloudWatch. Implementing secure configurations with appropriate IAM roles and policies, managing API integrations, routing, and networking within AWS environments are key tasks. Additionally, the engineer will oversee storage solutions such as S3, DynamoDB, and RDS, while working with the CloudOps team to improve the reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency of cloud resources. Providing guidance and documentation to development teams for deploying and operating applications in AWS, participating in code reviews for infrastructure automation, and staying current with emerging AWS services and capabilities are also part of the responsibilities.
