Job Description

Lead Infrastructure Engineer (FinTech / Electronic Trading)

Location: 100% Remote (United States)

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Industry: Financial Technology (FinTech / SaaS)

About the Opportunity

I am currently partnering with an established, fast-growing FinTech company that provides mission-critical electronic trading technology to global banks, institutional brokers, and financial venues.

My client is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of and scale their high-performance SaaS hosting environment. Because their client base consists of tier-one financial institutions, their infrastructure relies on dedicated bare-metal servers, robust Linux environments, and low-latency connectivity within premier colocation facilities (such as Equinix).

This is a 100% work-from-home role, but it is highly hands-on. My client needs a candidate who can act as the master orchestrator of their physical and virtual footprint, bridging the gap between cutting-edge financial software and rock-solid hardware engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect & Manage: Drive the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of my client’s high-availability, mission-critical SaaS infrastructure model.
  • Data Center Logistics: Remotely coordinate all physical data center activities within Equinix and similar facilities—including rack space, power allocation, equipment installation, and managing "remote hands."
  • High-Performance Networking: Oversee and troubleshoot routing, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and dedicated financial network cross-connects to clients, liquidity providers, and trading venues.
  • Systems Administration: Build, patch, and maintain robust Linux-based environments across Production, QA, UAT, and Disaster Recovery (DR) stacks.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Direct relationships with hardware vendors, outsourced hosting providers, ISPs, and network partners to ensure seamless operations and rapid incident resolution.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Serve as the technical expert supporting institutional client due diligence, infrastructure security questionnaires, and compliance audits.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Financial Trading Domain: Proven experience supporting electronic trading platforms (preferably FX/Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, or Equities), market data feeds, exchange connectivity, or low-latency financial systems.
  • Senior-Level Infrastructure Background: Deep experience in a high-stakes, mission-critical environment (FinTech, Prop Trading, Hedge Fund, Investment Bank, or specialized SaaS).
  • Expert Linux Admin: Strong, hands-on command-line experience with Linux systems administration and performance tuning.
  • Bare-Metal & Colo Savvy: Practical knowledge of enterprise server hardware lifecycle (specification, procurement, configuration) and working within colocation environments.
  • Network & Security Fluency: Solid understanding of network protocols, failover mechanisms, monitoring/alerting frameworks, and infrastructure security controls.
  • The "Startup" Mindset: Exceptional communication, vendor-management, and documentation skills with the ability to operate autonomously in a lean, fast-paced team.

Why Apply?

  • True Autonomy: Step away from the rigid silos of massive banking corporations. With my client, you will truly own the infrastructure and see the direct impact of your work.
  • Rare 100% Remote Opportunity: Enjoy the stability and high-compensation environment of electronic trading without the mandatory commute or hybrid office schedules.
  • Agile Culture: Work with a collaborative, smart, and driven team where decisions are made fast, and red tape is kept to an absolute minimum.
