AI Engineer, FAIR
Location: Fully Remote (EST/CST)
Contract Durations: 12months
Pay rate: $65/hr on W2

About the Role
We are is seeking an AI Engineer to join the FAIR (Fundamental AI Research) team and help translate cutting-edge research into scalable engineering solutions. This role is ideal for someone with 2–4 years of experience in LLMs, foundation models, data research, and applied AI systems, and who is comfortable driving implementation work independently.
FAIR’s mission is to advance innovation toward superintelligence through breakthroughs in data curation algorithms for perception, modeling spatial and temporal knowledge, and building more efficient research tools. The team works across multiple modalities—including computer vision, natural language processing, and embodied AI—to develop large-scale foundation datasets and models with high quality and diversity.
In this role, you will partner closely with researchers and cross-functional collaborators to turn ideas into practical systems and research platforms. You will help build new algorithms, capabilities, and architectures, while contributing to research outcomes that push the frontier of AI.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with FAIR researchers and engineers to implement advanced AI research systems and technologies in cloud-based environments
- Translate research concepts into robust, scalable engineering solutions and research infrastructure
- Build and prototype new algorithms, platform functionalities, and model architectures across AI research workflows
- Contribute to projects spanning computer vision, machine learning, LLMs, foundation models, and AI perception
- Support the development of large-scale data and model pipelines for multimodal and generative AI research
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and research teams to define and execute implementation roadmaps
- Contribute to the team’s broader publication and research efforts by enabling high-quality experimental systems and outcomes

Must Have Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Deep Learning, Computer Vision, LLMs, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence
- 1+ years of programming experience in Python, C/C++, or Rust
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, or a related technical field
- Experience developing computer vision algorithms, AI/ML systems, or supporting infrastructure
- Working knowledge of deep learning frameworks, especially PyTorch
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive implementation and engineering tasks in research or applied AI environments
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in AI engineering, research engineering, or applied machine learning
- Experience developing or supporting foundation models, LLMs, or generative AI systems
- Experience with distributed systems or large-scale algorithm development
- Familiarity with tools such as Slurm, Ray, or vLLM
- Experience working on data curation pipelines for generative AI or foundation model training
- Industry experience in areas such as image generation, video generation, multimodal AI, or perception systems
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related technical field
