The Role
We are seeking a Forward-Deployed AI Engineer to work directly with customers, embedding AI monitoring and evaluation capabilities into real-world production environments.
This position combines deep software engineering expertise with customer-facing technical leadership. You will partner closely with engineering teams, integrate AI observability solutions into customer systems, troubleshoot production challenges, and ensure successful deployment and adoption.
The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems while working directly with customers to deliver measurable outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Deploy AI monitoring, evaluation, and observability solutions within customer production environments
- Integrate AI and LLM-based systems into existing workflows and applications
- Work directly within customer codebases to diagnose issues and optimize system performance
- Guide customers through architecture and implementation decisions
- Lead customer engagements from discovery through deployment and long-term adoption
- Translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence future platform development
- Gather customer feedback and convert insights into product recommendations

Required Qualifications
- 3-7 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong full-stack or backend engineering background
- Experience delivering production-ready software from concept through deployment
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, LLMs, agents, or related technologies
- Experience deploying software into production environments
- Strong customer-facing communication and consulting skills
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Proven ability to solve ambiguous technical challenges independently
- Interest in working closely with customers and owning outcomes end-to-end
- Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate
- Ability to work onsite five days per week
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI agents, LLM applications, or applied AI systems
- Experience with observability, monitoring, evaluation, or analytics platforms
- Previous Forward-Deployed Engineering or Solutions Engineering experience
- Startup experience, particularly as an early employee
- Experience building products from 0 to 1
- Strong backend and infrastructure expertise
- Experience working with modern cloud environments and distributed systems
- Entrepreneurial mindset with aspirations toward technical leadership or company building
