Job Description
University Hospitals Dorset is delivering a £500m transformation programme that is reshaping how care is delivered across our hospitals. A new clinical model, major estate redevelopment and digital transformation are already underway, bringing significant and sustained change across the organisation.
This is not a maintenance role. It is a defining one.
At UHD, estates and facilities are not a backdrop to care – they are central to it, underpinning patient care, staff experience and organisational performance.
The Director of Estates, Environment and Facilities sits at the centre of this, providing leadership across a critical portfolio that supports every aspect of how care is delivered.
This is an opportunity to lead through complexity, shaping infrastructure, services and environments that are safe, resilient and aligned to the Trust’s future.

A central focus is enabling transformation, ensuring new developments, services and clinical models are delivered safely and embedded effectively into day-to-day operations.
Alongside this, strong operational grip is essential, with clear oversight of compliance, risk and performance to provide assurance to the Executive Team and Board within a complex and evolving environment.
The role also plays a key part in shaping a sustainable future for the organisation, leading delivery of the Trust’s Green Plan and embedding environmental sustainability across services.
As a senior leader, the postholder contributes beyond their portfolio, working across professional and organisational boundaries to support Trust-wide priorities and long-term success.
