QB Networks and Masscollabs Services is looking for a Senior Unix/Linux System Administrator to architect, scale, and maintain our global, open-source infrastructure. We are a mission-driven, Free Software project blending software, hardware, and digital science to build an autonomous internet cyberspace. Role Description


As a Senior Unix/Linux System Administrator, you will serve as the backbone of our open infrastructure. You will manage complex infrastructure systems, implement advanced automation, and ensure the high availability of our digital ecosystem. This role requires a combination of deep technical expertise in Debian GNU/Linux systems, proactive security engineering, and a core commitment to the free-software philosophy.


Key Responsibilities


  • Infrastructure Architecture: Design, deploy, and maintain high-performance Unix/Linux server environments globally.
  • System Optimization: Monitor system health, tune kernel performance, and manage resource allocation for maximum uptime.
  • Automation Engineering: Write and maintain advanced scripts (Bash, Python, or Go) to automate configuration management and deployments.
  • Network & Security: Troubleshoot complex network topologies, manage firewalls, and implement cryptographic security standards.
  • Disaster Recovery: Implement, test, and maintain robust backup solutions and failover strategies across decentralized nodes.
  • Community & Collaboration: Participate in peer code reviews, document open infrastructures, and mentor junior open-source contributors.


Required Qualifications


  • Experience: Minimum 10+ years of professional Linux System Administration experience in enterprise or large-scale open-source projects.
  • OS Expertise: Advanced, hands-on mastery of Debian GNU/Linux alongside classical Unix environments (FreeBSD/OpenBSD experiences are highly valued).
  • Deep Troubleshooting: Exceptional skills in diagnosing complex kernel, hardware, storage (ZFS/LVM), and network-layer routing issues.
  • Automation Mastery: Strong proficiency in writing production-grade automation scripts and utilizing tools like Ansible.
  • Core Networking: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, BGP routing, SSH hardening, and VPN technologies.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a fully asynchronous, remote team environment.
