About the Role
As the Payroll Manager, you will hold the most senior role in their payroll department, responsible for the management, operational planning, and execution of payroll activities across multiple business units. You will manage a team to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll for approximately 2,000 employees under 12 industrial instruments, with an annual payroll budget of $200 million. Your role will include ensuring legislative and business compliance, optimising payroll processes, and acting as the 2IC for the Compensation and Benefits Manager, stepping in to manage payroll responsibilities in their absence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a payroll team of four, to deliver efficient daily, weekly, monthly, and annual payroll processes for 2000 employees.
- Managing payroll operations, minimising errors, and optimising processes to improve efficiency.
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and business rules.
- Overseeing data management, including recovery processes and data mining for analysis and modelling.
- Serving as the key system administrator for Kronos, managing system changes, data integrity, and training.
- Managing the performance and development of the payroll team in line with company HR standards.

About You
You are an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager with a strong background in managing complex payroll operations. You thrive in a dynamic environment and have a deep understanding of payroll legislation and systems. You are a proactive leader with excellent communication skills and a commitment to process improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years' experience in a senior payroll position with hands-on payroll processing experience.
- Experience with multi-Award payrolls and Award interpretation.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and legislation, including PAYG taxation, payroll tax, workers' compensation, and superannuation.
- Understanding of industrial relations, the Fair Work Act, and state-based industrial Acts.
- Experience with large-scale corporate payroll and HR systems, preferably SAP, and time and attendance systems like Kronos.
- Proficiency in data mining, analysis, and modelling.
- Project management skills for payroll-related projects, such as system implementations and upgrades.
