Job Description

At justDice, we create mobile gaming experiences that reward players for their time and engagement. We move quickly, take ownership, and value people who bring ideas, curiosity, and a willingness to challenge how we do things. You’ll work with experienced teammates, solve meaningful problems, and have the freedom to make an impact from day one.

Note: This is a software engineering position.

Also this is not a vibe coding role, the person should be a technical expert.

We’re looking for an engineer who cares about what they’re building, not just how. You’ll own features end-to-end, ship with a small team and minimal process, and use AI tools as your default way of working. The title says Product Engineer for a reason — you’re an engineer first, but you have the instinct to ask why something is being built, whether it’s actually working, and what should change.

That curiosity isn’t a nice-to-have here. It’s what separates this role from a standard engineering position.

If AI tools make you 3x faster at shipping code, we don’t expect you to coast at your old output. We expect you to reinvest that leverage — ship more, think deeper about the product, and become a more well-rounded builder. You won’t be joining as a product manager, but the engineers who think this way naturally grow into product ownership — and that path is explicit and encouraged here.

If you’ve ever built something on your own time because you were genuinely curious — a game, a tool, an app, anything — we want to hear about it.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own feature development end-to-end: scoping, building, shipping, iterating.
  • Maintain and extend existing codebases with a focus on quality and speed.
  • Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent) as your primary development workflow — the expectation is that you multiply your own output through these tools.
  • Flag gaps or ambiguity in requirements before they become problems — write lightweight specs when needed.
  • Read and interpret product metrics to understand how features are actually performing.
  • Bring technical perspective to product discussions — not because it’s a separate responsibility, but because you naturally care about the outcome.

Who you are:

  • 2–4 years of full-stack development experience with shipped products (React Native on the frontend is required & Golang on the backend is preferred).
  • Experience with backend & frontend engineering is mandatory.
  • Genuine, daily fluency with at least one AI coding tool — and a track record of using that fluency to actually ship more, not just code more comfortably.
  • Product curiosity. You think about whether a feature is working, not just whether it’s deployed. You have opinions about what to build next, not just how to build it.
  • Comfortable working in a small team with minimal process overhead — you create your own structure.
  • Strongly preferred: Experience in gaming, consumer apps, or any product where user retention is the core metric.
  • Nice to have: Prior exposure to product thinking — even informally: owning a feature roadmap, writing a PRD, running a side project.

Why you will love working here:

  • Invest in Your Future: Regular feedback and our development program support your growth, helping you expand your skill set and achieve your career goals.
  • Easy Arrival to justDice: From signing to settling in Hamburg, we’ve got you covered. Need a visa? No problem. Ready to build your new life and career at justDice in Hamburg? We support every ambition—from learning German to a relocation bonus that helps you settle in and make Hamburg feel like home.
  • Live Your Best Life, at Work and Beyond: We work in a hybrid setup with 3 core office days, plus flexible working hours. Enjoy 30 vacation days, 3 weeks of remote work per year, and free access to an in-house gym with lots of different fitness classes and mental health support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Thrive Where You Work: Enjoy the Alster lake view from our central office with top notch equipment, fun open spaces, and a large variety of snacks and drinks.
  • Join the Community! Participate in regular team and company events, including hackathons and social gatherings. We work together, and we celebrate together, too.

At justDice, we value ownership, honesty, collaboration, and having fun while building something ambitious together.

We care about hiring great people, not perfect CVs. If this role sounds exciting, but you don’t meet every requirement, we’d still love to hear from you.
