Job Description

Pixel Systems builds the software that handles the heavy lifting behind the scenes. We specialize in creating internal tools like admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migration scripts that help businesses move away from messy spreadsheets and toward stable, automated workflows. This is an entry-level position for a developer who enjoys solving practical problems with clean code. We are currently assisting a fintech startup in the Netherlands with a major migration of their legacy transaction databases, and this role helps provide remote support for those specific data workflows. This is a full-time, fully remote role with our team based in the United States.

In this role
You will work on the core logic and interfaces of internal business applications. While many companies focus on the flashiest user-facing features, our work is about ensuring that an inventory system or a returns tracker functions perfectly every time. You will spend your time reading existing codebases, identifying why a specific function is failing, and implementing a straightforward fix. You will help us guarantee that the tools we ship are well-documented and easy for the next developer to understand.

What you will be doing
  • Writing and debugging vanilla JavaScript for browser-based admin dashboards.
  • Contributing to scripts that help move data between different software platforms and APIs.
  • Updating HTML and CSS to ensure internal tools remain functional and clear for the people using them.
  • Creating detailed README files and technical documentation for every feature you touch.
  • Recording short screen-share videos to walk clients through how a new tool or fix works.
  • Testing code locally to ensure it handles edge cases before it reaches a production environment.
  • Participating in weekly remote technical reviews where we walk through the logic of our current projects.

What we are looking for
  • A basic understanding of JavaScript fundamentals, including ES6 syntax and asynchronous functions.
  • The ability to write clear, functional CSS and structured HTML without relying on heavy frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Git for version control and basic command-line operations.
  • A logical approach to troubleshooting where you can follow a data path to find a point of failure.
  • Comfort writing technical explanations that are easy for both developers and non-technical clients to follow.
  • A preference for simple, maintainable solutions over clever or complex code.
  • Reliability in a remote setting, including the ability to manage your own schedule and meet project milestones.

Helpful background
  • Some exposure to Node.js or basic back-end scripting.
  • Experience writing simple SQL queries or working with relational databases.
  • Familiarity with how APIs talk to each other and how to read API documentation.
  • Interest in business operations, logistics, or financial data management.
  • Any previous work involving the automation of manual tasks, even in personal projects or university assignments.

Working at Pixel Systems
We are a small team of engineers who value clarity and stability. There is no middle management here. You will work directly with senior developers who define the project scope and write the code alongside you. We operate on a fixed-price model, which means we prioritize getting the work right the first time rather than rushing to meet arbitrary hourly targets. Our culture is built on the idea that software should run quietly in the background without requiring constant intervention.
Working remotely at Pixel Systems means having the autonomy to focus on your tasks without the distraction of unnecessary meetings. We believe in providing clients with full ownership of their code, which requires us to write scripts that are clean, professional, and easy to handover. If you find satisfaction in making a system run more efficiently and writing code that stands the test of time, you will fit in well here.
We focus on building tools that solve real problems for real businesses. There are no egos and no drama. We just ship stable software and provide our clients with the documentation they need to keep their operations moving. We look for people who take pride in the quality of their work and understand that the most useful software is often the kind that no one notices because it just works.
