Automation Tester for Payment Gateway

About the Role

We are looking for an Automation Tester to join a cross-functional Scrum team building a new enterprise-grade payment gateway. This role is ideal for someone passionate about quality engineering, test automation, and ensuring reliability within complex and secure financial systems.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated tests across APIs, integrations, backend services, and microservices within a Microsoft-based environment. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with developers, product owners, and QA professionals in a collaborative Agile environment.

This position is fully remote from Portugal and requires fluent English.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Quality Engineering

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for RESTful APIs, integration workflows, backend services, and microservices.
• Develop reusable automation frameworks using Microsoft-aligned technologies.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Promote shift-left testing practices and contribute to embedding quality throughout the development lifecycle.

Functional & Non-Functional Testing

• Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate payment workflows including authorization, capture, settlement, and refunds.
• Support performance, load, and security testing activities when required.
• Ensure alignment with PCI DSS and secure testing standards.

Scrum Team Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with developers, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, refinements, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to quality-focused Definition of Ready and Definition of Done processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and QA practices.

Tooling & Documentation

• Use Azure DevOps for test management, defect tracking, automated test execution, and reporting.
• Create and maintain clear and concise test documentation.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and QA best practices within the team.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with automation testing frameworks and tools such as:
• SpecFlow
• Selenium
• RestSharp
• Postman/Newman
• or similar technologies
