Role Description
Execute YSP's people strategy across a growing global team — managing the full volunteer lifecycle from application to alumni, building a culture of genuine belonging and recognition, and ensuring every YSP member has a structured, supported experience. As Director of Human Resources, you will work directly under the CHRO to operationalise recruitment, onboarding, performance, wellbeing, and community recognition at scale. This is a people-first, systems-oriented role for someone who genuinely cares about the human side of a mission-driven organisation.
Key Qualifications
* Strong grounding in human resources, people operations, or organisational psychology
* Demonstrated experience coordinating recruitment, onboarding, or community management processes across remote teams
* Excellent written communication: warm, clear, and professional across all volunteer-facing touchpoints
* Genuine commitment to creating inclusive, equitable, and psychologically safe team environments
* Proficiency with Notion, Google Workspace, or similar platforms for HR documentation and tracking
Additional Plus Points:
✓ Prior experience in HR, talent management, volunteer coordination, or student leadership
✓ Familiarity with performance management frameworks, OKRs, or wellbeing programme design
✓ Understanding of DEI principles and applying them in practice across multicultural teams
✓ Background in psychology, social science, education, or a related field

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Pipeline
* Manage YSP's end-to-end recruitment pipeline — from role posting and application screening through shortlisting, interview coordination, and offer communication
* Maintain and update the Applicant Tracker and Recruitment Pipeline databases in Notion
* Ensure every applicant — successful or not — receives a timely, professional, and human response
* Partner with Directors and Managers to assess applicants and align offers to organisational needs
* Proactively source candidates for hard-to-fill roles through network outreach and university partnerships
Onboarding & Offboarding
* Execute the full onboarding journey for all new members — welcome communications, tool access, Discord and Telegram setup, policy document walkthrough, and Day 7 follow-up
* Maintain and continuously improve the New Member Welcome Pack and all onboarding documentation
* Coordinate offboarding for departing members — handover checklists, access removal, exit surveys, and alumni database transitions
* Ensure 100% of new members are fully set up within 48 hours of accepting their appointment
Performance, Recognition & Wellbeing
* Coordinate quarterly performance review cycles — distributing frameworks, collecting feedback, and synthesising insights for the CHRO
* Run YSP's quarterly wellbeing pulse surveys and translate results into actionable recommendations

* Monitor and flag 90-day retention signals, identifying at-risk members before disengagement becomes departure
* Design and deliver team recognition programmes — spotlights, milestone celebrations, and community acknowledgements
* Coordinate the issuance of Letters of Appointment, certificates of completion, and LinkedIn recommendations
Culture & Inclusion
* Champion YSP's DEI Pledge in every HR process — from how roles are written to how interviews are conducted
* Identify and address barriers to participation for members across different time zones, cultural contexts, and life circumstances
* Support the CHRO in building and sustaining a team culture that is warm, high-trust, and built for the long term
Performance Indicators
* 90-day volunteer retention rate (target: ≥70%)
* Onboarding completion rate — 100% of new members fully set up within 48 hours
* Recruitment response time — all applicants acknowledged within 3 business days
* Wellbeing pulse score (target: ≥7.5/10 average across the team)
* Community Pathway tier accuracy — zero outdated assignments at any time
* Exit survey completion rate (target: ≥80% of departing members surveyed)
