Calavera New York is a growing, fast-paced jewelry e-commerce brand. We are currently undergoing an exciting phase of growth, which includes a complete migration to a brand-new website. We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Technical SEO Specialist to join our team and ensure our digital foundation is flawless during this transition and beyond.
The RoleWe are seeking a Technical SEO Specialist based in Ukraine for a 6-month independent contractor role. Unlike roles focused heavily on content creation, this position is strictly focused on the under the hood mechanics of SEO. You will own our on-page technical health, focusing heavily on hard metrics like site load speeds, crawlability, and architecture.
Your most immediate priority will be guiding the technical SEO strategy for our upcoming website migration, ensuring we maintain our search rankings and traffic through meticulous auditing and redirect mapping.
Key Responsibilities- Website Migration Management: Lead the technical SEO strategy for our site migration, including mapping and auditing all 301 redirects to ensure a seamless transition with zero traffic loss.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize Core Web Vitals, specifically focusing on hard metrics like site load time, First Contentful Paint, and Cumulative Layout Shift.
- Technical Auditing: Conduct regular, deep-dive technical audits using tools like Screaming Frog to identify and resolve crawl errors, indexation issues, broken links, and duplicate content.
- On-Page Technical SEO: Optimize site architecture, URL structures, schema markup, and internal linking to maximize search engine visibility.
- Reporting & Analytics: Utilize Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and other industry standard tools to monitor technical health and report on performance improvements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our web development team to implement technical fixes and ensure SEO best practices are baked into the new website's code.

- Location: Must be currently based in Ukraine or Poland.
- Experience: 3+ years of proven experience in Technical SEO, preferably within the e-commerce space.
- Migration Expertise: Hands-on experience successfully managing SEO for website migrations, with a deep understanding of 301 redirect mapping and post-migration auditing.
- Technical Chops: Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and ideally Next.js framework as they relate to search engine crawling and indexing.
- Tool Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Screaming Frog, and standard SEO platforms (Ahrefs, Semrush, etc.).
- Language: Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Working Style: Highly autonomous, detail-oriented, and comfortable working as an independent contractor.
