Vanguard Cybernetics treats the rigorous use of artificial intelligence not as an additional advantage, but as a structural principle of its operating culture. Technical questions are therefore not allowed to remain isolated. They are examined, refined, challenged, and accelerated through powerful AI systems until complexity becomes actionable engineering judgment.


This principle shapes our entire engineering workflow: from technology analysis, system understanding, and architectural decisions to implementation, debugging, documentation, operational decision-making, and the continuous refinement of internal processes.


For you as an Embedded Cyber-Physical Systems Engineer at Vanguard Cybernetics, this means that low-level firmware development, contribution to PCB-level prototype design, and middleware software development are not separate workstreams. They are unified inside a coherent, AI-supported engineering flow.


The combination of rigorous engineering, deep technical judgment, and rigorous use of AI agents becomes a force multiplier for productivity, quality, and execution velocity. It allows you to resolve technical complexity faster, implement robust solutions more efficiently, and advance demanding cyber-physical systems in which embedded compute units, sensing, communication, and firmware converge into resilient system behavior.


WHAT WE OFFER:

Inside a small core team, you will contribute directly to decisions that define the technical foundation of Vanguard Cybernetics: from architecture and prototypes to engineering workflows and the standards by which technical quality is defined, enforced, and improved.


This formative stage is deliberately built for velocity: transparent decisions, asynchronous execution, and direct technical ownership are prerequisites for creating substantive technical impact in modern technology markets.


As a consequence, Vanguard Cybernetics operates as a fully distributed engineering organization, built around trust, precise communication, inspectable decisions, and strong individual ownership. At the same time, this operating model gives you the freedom to perform rigorous technical work under the conditions in which you operate best, while maintaining impact, responsibility, and the highest engineering standard.


For you, this means:


  • rigorous use of AI agents such as OpenAI Codex or Claude Code, as well as LLM-supported workflows, as a force multiplier for engineering leverage
  • development of end-to-end systems in which firmware, hardware, middleware, and prototyping converge into robust system behavior
  • short paths from technical decision to real product impact, carried by a small core team where engineering judgment has immediate visibility and real consequence
  • formation of ambitious engineering workflows, technical standards, and scalable best practices as part of an emerging engineering culture
  • fully remote work built on ownership, precision, and asynchronous execution


The position is initially structured for 32 months, with the explicit objective of a long-term collaboration if the company and the role develop successfully.


This period creates a defined technical runway in which you can assume technical responsibility across a substantial formative phase and visibly shape the foundations of architecture, prototypes, standards, and working principles.


WHAT YOU DO:


You develop low-level firmware for embedded systems and work at the interface between microcontrollers, sensing, communication interfaces, and physical system behavior. This includes drivers, interface logic, state machines, energy and runtime behavior, debugging, and prototype bring-up.


Another focus is your contribution to PCB design and prototype hardware development. You work with schematics, interpret measurements, support board bring-up, isolate faults systematically, and feed insights from bring-up and debugging back into hardware and firmware decisions.


Beyond that, you develop middleware software that embeds individual system components into a larger system architecture. The decisive capability is not to treat firmware, hardware, communication, and data flows as isolated layers, but to bring them together into a robust integrated system.


You structure technical questions, work through datasheets and codebases, prepare implementations, compare solution variants, isolate failure patterns, and validate results through your own technical judgment.


WHAT YOU BRING:


  • confident use of AI agents, LLMs, and modern development tools as a productive part of your engineering workflow
  • a master's degree or higher in physics, computer science, electrical engineering, engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
  • a solid technical foundation in Embedded C/C++ and low-level firmware development for microcontrollers, peripherals, sensors, and communication interfaces
  • practical debugging judgment that connects datasheets, logic analyzers, code, and hypotheses into precise fault analysis and robust technical decisions
  • hands-on exposure to Altium, KiCad, or comparable EDA tools, together with technical understanding of schematics, PCB design, and prototype hardware development
  • the ability to grasp complex technical systems quickly, combined with strong self-direction and the ability to turn broad autonomy into technical impact, precise decisions, and robust implementation
