An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a background in communications, power systems or secondary systems engineering to lead a critical network function within a major utility environment. This role is responsible for the engineering strategy, technical governance and design authority for secondary systems infrastructure including protection systems, SCADA, telecommunications and network automation.

You will play a key role in ensuring the network remains technically compliant, future-ready and capable of supporting emerging technologies including distributed energy resources and energy storage. Leading a large multidisciplinary engineering team, you will influence long-term network strategy, drive innovation and deliver complex operational and capital programs that directly impact reliability and customer outcomes.
Your duties will include:
- Leading the engineering strategy and technical governance for secondary systems and network design
- Managing programs of work across asset augmentation, replacement and maintenance initiatives
- Providing expert technical advice on protection systems, SCADA, telecommunications and network automation
- Partnering with asset management and project delivery teams to develop long-term network strategies
- Overseeing financial management, forecasting and delivery of operational and capital programs
- Leading and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering, design and technical teams
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, operational efficiency and innovation

Skills and experience we are looking for:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related discipline, ideally with a background in communications or power systems
- Registered Engineer with significant design engineering and secondary systems experience
- 10+ years' experience within transmission, distribution, renewable energy or similar critical infrastructure industries
- Deep expertise across SCADA and control systems, protection systems, telecommunications networks and secondary systems engineering
- Strong understanding of NER, NEM, AEMO regulations, IEC 61850 standards and cyber security controls for protection and control systems
- Proven experience leading large engineering and technical teams within complex operational environments
- Strong commercial and financial management capability, including managing large operational and capital programs
