About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our dedicated engineering team at POLIS Immobilien AG. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that support our core business operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a passion for technology, problem-solving, and continuous learning. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency, reliability, and performance of our digital infrastructure, enabling us to deliver exceptional services to our clients and partners. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product management and DevOps, will be key to ensuring seamless integration and deployment of new features and enhancements.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in backend development. Essential qualifications include deep knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming principles, and adherence to best coding practices. Experience with SQL databases, particularly MySQL, and robust understanding of database design are required. Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and microservices architecture is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, algorithmic thinking, and a proactive approach to learning new technologies. Additional expertise in Kotlin, Google Guice, Gradle, Liquibase, gRPC, and Terraform will be considered advantageous.

• Collaborate closely with product teams to enhance system performance, functionality, and user experience.
• Manage and optimize backend codebases, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security.
• Implement microservices architecture, ensuring seamless integration with other systems and services.
• Stay updated with emerging technology trends and incorporate best practices to improve development efficiency and system robustness.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain high-quality standards.
