Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Monitor system health, uptime, and incident response processes
Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and public health stakeholders to improve system reliability and performance
Support infrastructure-as-code (IaC) initiatives using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates
Implement logging, observability, alerting, and operational best practices
Assist with environment provisioning, configuration management, and cloud security compliance
Participate in troubleshooting production issues and root cause analysis
Support modernization and cloud migration efforts for public health applications

Position Details

• Title: DevOps / Senior Reliability Engineer

• Openings: 2

1 Senior-Level & 1 Mid-Level

• Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

• Start Date: Targeting 8/15/2026 (contingent upon award)

• Hours: Part-Time (12–18 hours/week)

• Schedule: Flexible within standard East Coast business hours (9 AM – 5 PM ET)

• Location: 100% Remote


Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure within Azure and/or AWS environments

• Support reliability, scalability, monitoring, and operational performance for NEDSS Base System (NBS/NBD) implementations

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation

• Monitor system health, uptime, and incident response processes

• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and public health stakeholders to improve system reliability and performance

• Support infrastructure-as-code (IaC) initiatives using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates

• Implement logging, observability, alerting, and operational best practices

• Assist with environment provisioning, configuration management, and cloud security compliance

• Participate in troubleshooting production issues and root cause analysis

• Support modernization and cloud migration efforts for public health applications


Required Qualifications

Senior-Level Candidates

• 7+ years of DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering experience

• Strong experience supporting cloud-native applications in Azure and/or AWS

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, etc.

• Strong scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)

• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions

• Strong understanding of cloud security and infrastructure best practices

• Experience supporting highly available production systems

Mid-Level Candidates

• 3–5+ years of DevOps or Infrastructure Engineering experience

• Hands-on cloud experience in Azure and/or AWS

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation

• Experience with scripting and infrastructure automation

• Exposure to containerization and monitoring tools

• Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues in cloud environments


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting public health, healthcare, or government systems

• Familiarity with NEDSS Base System (NBS/NBD)

• Experience supporting state or federal public sector environments

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform preferred)

• Understanding of HIPAA, security, and compliance requirements

• Experience in Agile or DevSecOps environments


Additional Information

• This is a new proposal effort supporting state public health jurisdictions

• Candidates must be comfortable working in a collaborative, remote environment

• Flexible scheduling available within East Coast business hours

• Long-term potential with contract-to-hire pathway following project award and ramp-up
