About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Engineer to join our innovative engineering team at POLIS Immobilien AG. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of scalable and efficient backend systems that support our diverse real estate projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with a focus on backend architecture, microservices, and cloud technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, design, and operations to deliver robust solutions that enhance our platform's performance and reliability. Qualifications

• Proven experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases, particularly MySQL, and experience with database design and optimization.
• Hands-on experience working with public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and microservices architecture.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and implement scalable solutions.
• Familiarity with modern development tools and frameworks such as Gradle, Liquibase, and gRPC.
• Experience with containerization and infrastructure as code is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Have

• Experience with Kotlin, especially since our backend is primarily written in Kotlin.
• Knowledge of tools like Google Guice and Terraform.

• Collaborate with product teams to improve system performance, reliability, and security.
