Senior Network Engineer

This is a fully remote senior-level role supporting complex enterprise network environments for international clients, with a strong focus on advanced troubleshooting and high-impact incident resolution. The position operates within a Managed Services setting where reliability, security, and scalability are critical. You will act as a key escalation point for intricate network and firewall issues across large-scale infrastructures. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with architectural input, ensuring robust and optimized network performance. You will lead root cause analysis efforts and contribute to long-term remediation strategies. In addition, you will support network design, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a highly technical and influential role requiring strong autonomy and leadership in critical environments.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will take full ownership of complex networking and firewall environments, ensuring stability, performance, and security across client infrastructures. You will lead incident resolution efforts, technical investigations, and cross-team coordination while driving root cause analysis and long-term remediation strategies.

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of complex network and firewall incidents, from detection to resolution and post-incident review
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of critical infrastructure issues across internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders
• Design, implement, and support network solutions, including scoping, estimation, and technical delivery of projects
• Configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise firewalls and networking systems across multiple platforms
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to avoid recurring issues
• Review, validate, and approve network changes, architectures, and remediation plans
• Support network hardening initiatives in collaboration with security teams
• Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing
  
  

Requirements

This role requires extensive hands-on experience in enterprise networking environments, particularly within managed services or large-scale IT operations. You should bring deep technical expertise across networking protocols, firewall platforms, and troubleshooting methodologies, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• 10+ years of experience in MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise IT environments
• Fluent English communication skills (mandatory)
• Advanced experience with enterprise firewalls: Cisco (ASA/FTD/FMC), Palo Alto (PAN-OS, Panorama), and Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager)
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IPSec, SNMP, STP, VTP, and VLANs
• Experience with virtualized environments (VMware or similar), including virtual networking and segmentation
• Strong troubleshooting skills across OSI layers and application-level network diagnostics
• Proven ability to optimize and modernize complex legacy network infrastructures
• Experience with packet analysis and performance troubleshooting
• Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
• Ability to work independently in high-pressure, mission-critical environments
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNP, PCNSE, or Fortinet NSE 4/7 certifications
• Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud networking
• Experience in ITIL-based Managed Service Provider environments
• Experience delivering customer-facing infrastructure projects
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
