We are seeking a Content Marketing Manager (Contractor) to help us scale high-quality content that fuels our ABM and demand generation programs, marketing our background check products.


Role overview

The contractor in this role will execute on Checkr’s content strategy for key ABM campaigns, owning the end-to-end production and delivery of content assets aligned to that strategy. You’ll plan, write, edit, and manage a wide variety of digital content assets—partnering with internal stakeholders, freelance writers, and AI tools to deliver high-impact content efficiently and at scale. Expected commitment is 20–30 hours per week, start date ~July 1, 2026.


This is a hands-on role for someone who is style- and grammar-obsessed, highly organized, and comfortable juggling multiple projects and deadlines. You’ll serve as the day-to-day manager of content production and delivery, using strong editorial judgment and project management skills to keep content moving from idea to publication. You will be expected to leverage AI-powered workflows to build an efficient content pipeline.


Key responsibilities

Create and edit digital content

  • Leverage internal research, stakeholder knowledge, and messaging guides to understand existing ABM content strategy, campaign goals, target accounts, and key messages.
  • Own content calendars and workflows in our project management platform to ensure on-time delivery of all assets.
  • Write and edit a range of digital content assets, including: Blog posts and thought leadership articles, guides/e-books/playbooks, survey- or research-based reports, one-pagers, checklistst, landing page copy, video scripts, and other ABM collateral


Leverage AI to drive efficiency

  • Use AI tools—like Claude, Lovable, and Superhuman—to support content ideation, outlining, drafting, editing, repurposing, and QA.
  • Develop and refine workflows that combine human editorial judgment with AI-assisted efficiency.
  • Experiment with new tools and approaches to streamline production while maintaining quality. Come to work with a builder mindset.


Promote editorial excellence and brand style consistency

  • Ensure all content is on-brand, clear, engaging, and optimized for the target audience and digital channels.
  • Uphold and refine Checkr’s editorial standards, voice and tone guidelines, and style rules.
  • Proofread and fact-check content for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
  • Partner with design and web teams to ensure content is visually compelling and easy to consume.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Must be US-based and available to work 20–30 hours per week on a contract basis.
  • Demonstrated experience producing a variety of digital content assets, such as: Blogs and long-form articles, guides/e-books, survey or research reports, ;anding pages, email copy, and other campaign assets.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a portfolio that showcases clarity, structure, and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills and experience owning content projects from brief through publication.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content performance metrics.
  • Experience collaborating with or managing freelance writers and other content contributors.
  • Proficiency using AI tools in content workflows (e.g., for ideation, drafting, repurposing, or QA).
  • Comfortable working remotely and communicating asynchronously with distributed teams.


Preferred:

  • Experience building or refining AI-powered content engines.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, HR tech, or a related industry.
  • Experience developing content targeting mid-market and enterprise prospect accounts.
  • Experience supporting ABM and demand generation programs.
  • Based in San Francisco, CA or Denver, CO metro areas.
