Our client is a global life insurer with more than a century of heritage and one of the largest, most established footprints across Asia, operating in numerous markets in the region. Asia is a strategic growth priority for the group, with sustained executive-level investment in data, AI and technology capability. The regional data estate is among the most significant in Asian insurance, and the organisation is now investing seriously in the architectural maturity required to take it forward.

This is a newly created position within the office of the Chief Data Officer, with a clear mandate: define the target-state architecture, drive the transformation required to reach it, and set the standards by which the regional data estate evolves.

What You Will Own

• The Asia data architecture vision – target-state and transformation roadmap
• A regional team of data architects, including their technical direction and development
• Architecture standards across the regional data estate – established, enforced, continuously evolved
• Integration of data architecture, data governance and data security as a single coherent discipline

Essential Experience

• Substantive senior data architecture experience with genuine architectural depth – the defining requirement of this role
• Holistic capability across data architecture, governance and security, treated as integrated disciplines rather than separate ones
• Proven track record of defining target-state data architectures and leading the transformation to deliver them – ideally in complex, multi-market organisations
• Credible at C-Suite and ExCo level, able to influence without relying on direct authority
• Experience leading and developing teams of architects

• Self-directed leadership style – comfortable setting the architectural agenda rather than executing against one set by others
• Financial services experience strongly preferred; insurance experience a significant advantage
