Job Description

About Us

We're Kommit, a tech staffing company with over 16 years of experience connecting Latin American talent with US-based companies. We are currently supporting a client in the real estate sector to scale their high-performance ads engine.

About the Role

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with 5+ years of experience to own the quality assurance layer of the GDX web application and its supporting APIs. You will work in a complex environment that spans hardware, firmware, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring that real-time telemetry and mission-critical data remain reliable.

In this role, you will be a key technical contributor, extending an existing Playwright suite and participating in deep ticket reviews to ensure testability from the start. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys the intersection of IoT, real-time data, and modern TypeScript-based testing.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ticket Review: Analyze incoming Jira tickets to assess testability, flag missing acceptance criteria, and identify edge cases before development begins.
  • Regression Testing: Execute systematic validation across dev, staging, and production environments, covering core user flows and role-based access.
  • Automated Suite Extension: Maintain and grow the existing Playwright e2e suite, ensuring tests are consistent with the team's TypeScript standards and pass in GitHub Actions.
  • Defect Reporting: Document and report bugs with clear reproduction steps, environment details, and expected behavior.
  • Cross-Layer Validation: Validate complex data surfaces including TanStack tables, server-side pagination, and CSV exports against TimescaleDB outputs.
  • Observability: Utilize tools like Datadog and Sentry to investigate and cross-reference production issues.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in QA Engineering with a strong focus on automation.
  • Playwright & TypeScript: Proven experience extending e2e suites in TypeScript-heavy environments (96.5% of our codebase).
  • Testing Fundamentals: Expertise in manual test case authoring, exploratory testing, and structured regression runs.
  • API Testing: Strong experience testing REST API endpoints and handling Auth0 JWT authentication.
  • React SPA Patterns: Deep understanding of testing async rendering, route-based navigation, and state-driven UIs.
  • English C1 preferred (minimum B2) for daily collaboration with U.S.-based teams.
  • Must be based in Latin America.

Preferred Qualifications

  • WebSocket Experience: Highly suggested experience with real-time data delivery (Phoenix Channels).
  • IoT Awareness: Familiarity with MQTT, SQS, or time-series data (TimescaleDB).
  • Component Testing: Experience with Vitest, React Testing Library, or Storybook.
  • CI/CD: Understanding of GitHub Actions and deployment gates.

Compensation & Work Arrangement

  • Monthly compensation: $2,500 - $2,800 USD.
  • Contract type: Independent Contractor.
  • Work model: 100% Remote - LATAM.
  • Availability: Part-time, 32 hours per week.
  • Project duration: Approximately 3 months
