Job Description

About Us

Zivid is one of Norway's most ambitious technology companies, serving the global robotics market with our state-of-the-art 3D computer vision and robotics solutions. With more than 100 employees, engineering offices in Oslo and Trondheim, sales offices in six countries, and a diverse global customer base, Zivid is shaping the future of robotics.

About The Role

The Zivid Motion product (zivid.com/zivid-motion) is a novel global motion planning solution relying heavily on GPU acceleration and algorithm optimization for performance. The motion planner combines a 3D model of the robot cell, point clouds from our cameras and the robot kinematics and geometry, to create safe and efficient collision-free paths. As a Robotics Engineer, you will work hands on with industrial robotics automation, integration, performance optimization, user-experience, and system architecture challenges, in a team of 5-10 engineers, responsible for Zivid Motion. You will be delivering new features, supporting customer integration, testing new solutions in our simulator environment or robotics lab, and shipping our technology to customers and industries all over the world.

Key Responsibilities

This position offers varied and challenging tasks across robotics, software, simulation, and vision. Your tasks will include:

  • Develop new solutions to previously unsolved robotics and automation challenges, expanding our robotics offering.
  • Work together with Camera and Vision Engineering teams on integrated robotics solutions.
  • Test new solutions in simulation and in our robotics lab, ensuring industry grade deployments.
  • Collaborate with team members across design and implementation, ensuring delivery of robust, maintainable, and performant solutions.
  • Further optimize and improve our existing motion planning solutions to support the demands of a fast-growing market.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to raising overall code quality and engineering standards in the team.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who fits our team’s passion for problem solving and new technology, using their analytical skills with a solution-oriented attitude to deliver as a team.

You should have a strong proficiency in C++ programming and M. Sc. or B. Sc. in Cybernetics, Robotics, Computer Science, or similar competence, to be considered.

Experience with one or more of the following is highly valued:

  • Experience with motion planning or other planning algorithms.
  • ML/AI algorithm development and training.
  • Simulation environments (e.g. Isaac Sim, Gazebo, Drake).
  • ROS/ROS2 or other open-source solutions.
  • 3D vision, depth sensing, or point-cloud processing.
  • Python programming.

WE OFFER

  • Competitive compensation package, including sign-on stock options package, competitive pension scheme and premium health insurance plan.
  • An opportunity to get involved in the ongoing robotics and automation revolution.
  • A central role in an exciting young company with a global impact.
  • An open, creative, cross-functional, innovative and international environment.
  • Highly motivated and skilled team members.
  • Social events like climbing, running, cage ball, movie night, and company cabin trips.
  • Excellent workplace canteen.
  • Playtime: twice a year, three consecutive days to play around and work on whatever you want.
  • Challenging problems, responsibilities, and a great deal of fun!
