About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our remote team. This fully remote position offers an exciting opportunity to design, develop, test, and support software applications that align with UniGroup’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring data integrity, security, and efficiency across our systems by writing clean, maintainable code and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. The role involves assisting in legacy system migrations, building applications using modern frameworks like React, and developing microservice APIs with TypeScript and Python. The Software Engineer will also optimize large data set performance, participate in code reviews, and support deployment and monitoring efforts, contributing to the continuous improvement of our software platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 2 years of software development experience within a microservices architecture
- Proven ability to write, test, debug, and review code collaboratively
- Experience working in agile or iterative development teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to learn new technologies
- Familiarity with modern development practices, version control, and CI/CD workflows

- Experience with Java or Python

Responsibilities
- Assist in migrating legacy software systems to modern architectures
- Develop applications and tools using React for front-end development
- Create microservice APIs and utilities with TypeScript and occasionally Python
- Write complex SQL queries for data extraction and validation
- Optimize performance of large data sets and ensure data integrity through proper indexing
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance to ensure high standards of performance, maintainability, and reliability
- Support application deployments, monitor systems, and troubleshoot production issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, estimate, and execute technical tasks aligned with sprint goals
- Maintain and enhance existing systems, including legacy modernization efforts and documentation
- Engage in knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous learning within the engineering team
