Job Description
Building Systems Consulting (BSC) is growing our Whitehorse office. We are looking for a senior electrical engineer who can lead projects, mentor junior staff, and be a trusted technical resource for clients and contractors.
This role involves leading electrical design and engineering for multi-residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects across the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, with occasional support to projects in Alberta and British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and act as engineer of record or senior technical authority as applicable
- Manage scope, schedule, budgets, and resourcing for assigned projects
- Prepare fee letters and support business development and client relationship management
- Develop design reports, concept packages, and detailed construction documents
- Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other external consultants
- Provide construction administration including shop drawing review, RFI responses, site reviews, and contractor coordination
- Mentor and review the work of junior designers and engineers
- Support commissioning activities as required and participate in field work and site visits

Education and Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in building electrical system design (additional experience welcome)
- P.Eng. preferred; strong applicants nearing licensure will be considered
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code, CAN/ULC-S524, and applicable standards and guidelines
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit (Revit MEP preferred)
- Proven construction administration experience and strong field judgement
- Strong project management and client communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Northern climate experience is considered an asset

Technical Skills (Preferred / Assets)
- Low voltage equipment and system specification (transformers, motors, drives, switchgear), system studies, and electrical arrangements
- Experience preparing electrical studies such as grounding, protection coordination, load flow, harmonics, and arc flash
- Knowledge of electrical design standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI/IEC)
- Ability to estimate engineering hours and support budgeting for electrical scopes
- Asset: Experience across industrial sectors (mining, industrial facilities, utilities, power generation
