Senior Software Test Engineer

Marathon TS is searching for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Sr. Software Test Engineer who performs high-level, day-to-day software testing solutions to join our team and begin an exciting and challenging career. This is a 100% Remote role.

Job Description

1. Develops and executes test plans, test cases, and test procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements.
2. Develops test plans, test schedule, and approach.
3. Writes test cases and scripts and identifies data for test scenarios.
4. Conducts a walk through on test case/script with Test Managers, Requirement Leads, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
5. Performs and leads tests of software and/or IT systems to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
6. Performs verification activities on work products using defined methods, procedures and criteria with an appropriate verification environment.
7. Documents and communicates test results.
8. Supports analysis of test results and resolution of open issues.
9. Documents and works to resolve all complex problems.
10. Reports progress on problem resolution to management.
11. Devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations. Creates daily test metrics and reporting.
12. Occasionally performs other IT systems engineering activities such as requirements, design, installation, operation, sustainment, and support.
13. Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
14. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
15. Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met.
16. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
17. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
18. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

Education and Experience

1. Bachelors and ten (10) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience
2. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
3. Advanced certifications in testing or quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA) are preferred.
4. Proven track record of working on complex software projects and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
5. Experience in both manual and automated testing.
6. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Requirements

1. Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
2. Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., GitHub Actions).
3. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
4. Understanding of performance testing and tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).

5. Proficient in languages such as Java, Python, C# or JavaScript.
6. Strong Object-Oriented Programming Experience

9. Experience in testing web applications, mobile applications, APIs, and services.
10. Understanding of security testing practices and tools.
11. Knowledge of different types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT.

19. Experience with test management tools
20. Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
21. Ability to conduct test reviews and provide constructive feedback.
22. Strong understanding of risk-based testing, exploratory testing, and context-driven testing.
23. Familiarity with cloud-based testing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
