The Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) is searching for a highly motivated and experienced Desktop Technical Analyst to step into a crucial Work Lead role. This is more than a technical position—it's a chance to serve as the team's key contributor and Subject Matter Expert (SME) , ensuring the seamless delivery of top-notch IT services across a diverse user base, including state employees, contractors, vendors, and county users.

I n this pivotal role, you will be essential to ensuring our deskside team can effectively manage the increasing complexity of our environment. You will analyze, diagnose, and resolve the most challenging Tier II and Tier III software and hardware issues for desktop and mobile computing devices, and manage the resolution or escalation of complex issues related to enterprise-level services and applications.

Some Of Your Important Responsibilities Will Include

  • Provide resolution and assistance for current operating systems (Windows 10 and Windows 11), and limited training to standard supported applications.
  • Deploy new or rebuilt computers based on OIT and agency security and operational policies
  • Support desktop, laptop, and tablet users and solve problems with Microsoft, Adobe, and other software in the production environment.
  • Assist other Information Technology teams (Security, Server, Network, Voice, etc) with some additional duties if the Deskside individual is based where no physical server/network people reside.
  • Work closely with the Deskside Engineering team to address compliance with audit findings and remediations.
  • Develop knowledge base documents related to the specialty area to provide training and troubleshooting guidance to IT support staff.
  • Provide ongoing subject matter training for the Deskside team on existing resources and process implementations.
  • Train other Deskside staff on becoming experts in customer service to effectively address the needs of our agencies.
  • Developing and collaborating on PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT) packages.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:

Five (5) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position, including previous experience in a professional service desk or desktop support environment.

Substitutions

  • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
  • Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit, Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft Entra ID, and MECM.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and adapt to evolving technical concepts.

Conditions Of Employment

OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.

A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Positions supporting some agencies, such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety, will also require a pre-employment drug test.

This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.

This position may require on-call duties as needed.

Supplemental Information

If this posting indicates “remote from anywhere in CO” in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.

While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
