Senior Backend Developer (Ruby on Rails & Elasticsearch) | Remote Europe
We’re partnering with an innovative European SaaS business that’s scaling rapidly across international markets and looking to hire a Senior Backend Developer with strong Ruby on Rails and Elasticsearch expertise.
This is a key engineering hire within a high-performing product team focused on building scalable backend systems, improving platform performance, and enhancing search capabilities across large datasets.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising backend services in a modern cloud-based SaaS environment. This role is heavily focused on backend architecture, API development, and search performance optimisation.
Ruby on Rails and Elasticsearch are both critical for this position.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and building scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails
- Developing and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Optimising search functionality and query performance with Elasticsearch
- Improving backend scalability, reliability, and system performance
- Working closely with Product, Frontend, and DevOps teams
- Contributing to architecture decisions, testing standards, and CI/CD processes
