About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive QA Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining comprehensive quality assurance processes for our highly scalable and configurable software systems. You will utilize web and server-side programming languages, cloud services, CI/CD solutions, and SQL databases to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. Your work will directly support our product engineering team in maintaining and enhancing the zyBooks web-based platform, which is used by hundreds of thousands of students and educators. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing market leader in STEM education, helping to shape the future of digital learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience testing applications built with web technologies including Responsive Design, JSON, and REST APIs
• Proficiency with test automation frameworks such as Selenium or Cypress
• Strong scripting skills in Python or JavaScript for developing automated test cases
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working with SQL databases, particularly MySQL, for data validation and management
• Understanding of distributed systems testing and cloud-native application environments
• Familiarity with WCAG standards and testing for accessibility compliance
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities within cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain detailed test plans and test cases to ensure the quality and scalability of enterprise applications built using Ember and React frameworks
• Verify and validate new features based on wireframes and design specifications
• Test reusable UI components focusing on scalability, extensibility, supportability, and accessibility standards
• Perform backend testing to validate data integrity using database technologies like MySQL and Redshift
• Develop and implement test strategies for distributed systems and cloud-native applications
• Integrate automated tests within DevOps workflows and manage them through CI/CD pipelines using appropriate tools
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and educators to deliver high-quality educational technology solutions
• Identify, document, and track defects, and work with teams to resolve issues efficiently
• Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance product quality and team productivity
