Job Description
Electronics Design Manager
PulseMedica is seeking a hands-on technical leader to help shape the future of vision technology — right from the heart of Canada’s innovation ecosystem. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, this is a career-defining opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to lead, build, and make global impact in the medical device field. Candidates based elsewhere in Canada may be considered for a hybrid role with frequent travel to our Edmonton office.
Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll guide a talented team of engineers while contributing your own expertise in analog/mixed-signal and FPGA design. This is a true player-coach role — where the candidate will manage the Electronics Design team while also overseeing technical execution and providing hands-on contribution.
We welcome applicants from across Canada and internationally. For Canada-based candidates, PulseMedica supports a hybrid working arrangement with regular onsite presence in Edmonton. For the right candidate, we offer relocation assistance, immigration support, and a chance to be part of a company that’s transforming ophthalmic care worldwide.
About Us
PulseMedica is redefining the landscape of ophthalmic technology by developing breakthrough imaging and laser technologies for ophthalmic disease. Recognized as a Great Place to Work for four consecutive years, we’ve built a culture where innovation thrives and multidisciplinary teams solve complex challenges at speed. Our technology blends real‑time computer vision, deep learning, and 3D imaging with high‑precision laser systems to create new treatment solutions to prevent vision loss. By uniting cutting‑edge research with scalable engineering, PulseMedica is creating treatment solutions that position the company to be at the forefront of the next generation in eye care.
The Opportunity
As the Electronics Design Manager, you’ll lead the design and delivery of complex, safety-critical electronics for our advanced ophthalmic systems. You’ll provide both management of Electrical Engineers and technical oversight. Technical oversight will involve driving architecture, guiding design reviews, and mentoring engineers. You’ll work cross-functionally across software, optics, mechanical, and systems teams to deliver cohesive, high-performance systems that meet regulatory and quality standards.
