Job Description
How You Make Impact
From week one, your work runs in production for some of Europe's most complex organisations - an automotive manufacturer, a major global investment firm, a major German bank. This is not a sandbox. The automation pipelines you build are depended on daily by enterprise teams processing critical legal and operational data.
In a team our size, there is no layer between you and the impact. Decisions move fast. If you identify a better approach, it gets built, not discussed for a quarter. You will see the direct result of your work in how our clients operate. That kind of proximity to real impact is what makes this role genuinely different.
We're Contractuo, a small, fast-moving company building the next generation of contract intelligence. Our platform helps major enterprises understand, process, and act on their legal documents at scale. At the core, we're a document and data platform: we ingest complex, unstructured contracts and turn them into structured, queryable, actionable data that businesses can actually use. The technology is genuinely unique. The clients are serious organisations. The team is small by design.
We are growing and need an engineer who goes deep. This is a software engineering role focused on AI and automation. You'll design and build the pipelines, integrations, and workflows that make our platform intelligent - writing clean, maintainable code, thinking carefully about architecture, data flow, and edge cases, and shipping things that hold up in production.
AI is at the heart of what you'll build. You'll leverage LLMs and automation tooling where they make the product better by extracting structure from messy documents, powering intelligent workflows, automating what used to be manual. But the job is building reliable systems, not building models. We're looking for someone who thinks like an engineer first: someone who knows when to reach for an LLM and when a well-written function does the job better.
If you like turning messy, real-world problems into reliable, production-ready automation and you want to use AI as a tool rather than be defined by it, this is the role.
You will design, build, and maintain AI-powered automation workflows that run inside some of Europe's largest enterprises. You will own the technical implementation end-to-end - from automation architecture and LLM integration to deployment and production stability. This is hands-on engineering work, not configuration or oversight.
Roughly how your time will be spent:
- 75% building and maintaining automation workflows, AI integrations, and LLM-powered pipelines
- 15% working with internal teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
- 10% improving tooling, standards, and the quality of what we ship
You have 4–8 years of experience and operate comfortably at mid-level or senior level. You are a builder first. You go deep on the technical side - architecture, implementation, reliability - and you take full ownership of what you ship.

What you bring technically:
- Python is your primary language - clean, production-ready code, APIs, scripting, and model integration
- Hands-on experience with n8n or comparable automation tooling - real flows in production, not just theoretical knowledge
- Practical experience making LLMs reliable in production - understanding how models behave and how to constrain them when it matters
- Comfortable working across a mixed stack - PHP and Go are in active use across the platform
- Comfortable with HTML/CSS at a working level - enough to shape the output formats of agents and automations
How you work:
- You are a builder first; you go deep, take full ownership, and care about what you ship
- You think in systems; how components connect, where things break, how to build for reliability at scale
- You are comfortable shaping the solution, not just building to a spec
Nice to haves:
- Experience in LegalTech, contract management, or document intelligence
- Background working directly with business or customer-facing processes
- Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns or API-heavy architectures
- Experience with fine-tuning or deploying custom models
- German language skills - written and spoken

Teamwork - We work as one team. No distinction between roles, seniority, or background. Everyone supports each other and takes decisions based on merit.
