Job Description

Data Analyst

32–40 hours per week | On-site, Malta

Bits Malta Ltd is looking for a commercially-minded, curious Data Analyst — someone who doesn’t just produce charts, but turns data into decisions.

Honest admission: our previous Data Analyst delivered a lot of beautiful dashboards, but without commercial depth. We are looking for the opposite.

What we are looking for

We want someone who reads every number with the question: “So what?” You are not satisfied with “here is how the numbers look” — you want to understand why they look that way, what they mean for our strategy, and what we should do differently tomorrow.

Your role

As Data Analyst, you become the backbone of our data-driven decision-making. You will work closely with executive management, marketing, customer service and compliance. Under your ownership, the data warehouse will become the central nervous system of the organisation: the place where signals surface, and where action begins.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a weekly strategic scorecard to the executive team covering player, channel, RG/AML and cost KPIs — with your own interpretation and recommendations, not just charts.
  • Analyse player behaviour, channel performance, acquisition cost and retention; translate patterns into commercial opportunities and risks.
  • Support marketing, customer service and compliance with focused analyses that lead to concrete improvements.
  • Strengthen responsible gambling and regulatory compliance through proactive signal detection — early warnings, behavioural anomalies, AML red flags.
  • Optimise the data warehouse and reporting tools to reduce manual work and surface more insight.
  • Partner with the Customer Support Coordinator to implement data-driven RG workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum, Master’s preferred, in Data Science, Business Analytics, Econometrics or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience with SQL (required), Python or R, and Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.
  • Commercially sharp — you think in value, not just in data.
  • Coordinating skills and the self-reliance to manage multiple analyses in parallel.
  • Experience in online gambling or gaming, and familiarity with AML and Responsible Gambling, is a strong plus.
  • Excellent English communication, verbal and written — you can explain complex analyses clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

What we screen for

  • Commercial thinking: you always start with the “so what?” question.
  • Proactivity: you do not wait for an assignment — you flag what deserves attention.
  • Ownership: you feel responsible for what you deliver, all the way to business impact.
  • Sharp communication: you can summarise an analysis in one sentence that makes an executive stop and think.

Selection process

  1. Introductory interview — background and motivation.
  2. Data case: you receive an anonymised dataset, formulate three commercial insights and recommendations, and present them in 15 minutes to the management team.
  3. Final interview with the executive team on the strategic role and growth path.

What we offer

  • Salary commensurate with experience and demonstrated value.
  • Strong benefits package, including private health insurance and performance bonus.
  • Direct exposure to executive decision-making — your work is visible and used.
  • A dynamic, international environment in the online gambling industry.
  • Room for autonomy, development and training.
  • Relocation support available for candidates moving to Malta.

Good to know

  • Bits Malta Ltd is based on Malta. This is an on-site position; candidates must be based on Malta or willing to relocate.
  • Bits Malta Ltd provides operational, compliance and customer service facilitation within the online gambling sector.

How to apply

Send your CV and a short motivation letter. In your motivation, include one concrete example of a data analysis that actually changed a business decision. Applications without this example will not be considered.

  • No agency recruitment, please.
