Position Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Specialist is responsible for supporting the Human Resources department in various capacities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and benefits administration. This role requires a strong understanding of HR best practices and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. The HR Specialist will work closely with HR leadership to ensure the efficient operation of the HR function, fostering a positive work environment and supporting strategic organizational goals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Champion Lozier’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values by demonstrating the behaviors that contribute to Lozier’s success.
  • Back up HR team on HRIS transactions for assigned location.
  • Follow up on missing or incomplete documentation for HRIS transactions.
  • Assist in the development and execution of recruitment strategies.
  • Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate with hiring managers to select candidates.
  • Conduct new hire orientations, benefit orientations, and other presentations as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist in administration of workers’ compensation program for work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Responsible for reviewing and purging files upon employee termination.
  • Support performance review process by providing training and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR files in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Support tuition reimbursement and employee referral programs.
  • Create, update and/or distribute reports as required.
  • Participate in HR projects aimed at improving HR processes and practices.
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments.
  • Ability to work and interact well with others.

Other Job Functions

  • Participate in wellness team and support at annual health fairs.
  • Support Open Enrollment benefit administration.
  • Support plant activities and initiatives.
  • Assist other plants as needed.

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree in human resources, organizational development, business management or another related field is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a human resources role is preferred, if degreed. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a human resources role, if non-degreed.

Required Skills

  • Basic level of Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word & Access).
  • Basic knowledge of all applicable human resources regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to conduct confident, clear, and concise presentations.
  • Ability to accomplish assigned work by setting priorities with proper sense of urgency.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Strong group facilitation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Human Resource Information System (HRIS) systems experience, preferably Workday.
  • HR related experience in a manufacturing environment.

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations.
  • Ability to maneuver manufacturing environments and navigate stairs as needed.
  • Occasional time spent working a flexible schedule.
  • Must demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness to off-schedule requests or emergencies in support of business-critical functions.
