Sr. Cloud Network Engineer
Fully Remote
8-Month Contract
Pay: $60-$70/hr (DOE)
Brooksource is looking for a Cloud Network Engineer to join the Security Operations (SecOps) team at one of our largest Fortune 200 energy generation clients. Our client has gone through some recent organizational restructurings creating vacancies across the SecOps team for a Cloud Network Engineer to operationally support Cisco firewall technology, manage regulatory requirements, and drive high priority network initiatives in both cloud and hybrid cloud models. The ideal candidate will be able to handle and troubleshoot, update and configure load balancers, implement firewall changes, and implement changes in Palo Alto. After routine security audits, the selected individual will perform necessary corrective measures and resolve tickets in ServiceNow.
The selected Cloud Network Engineer will be able to work in a fully remote capacity, but get exposure to network engineering teams, application teams, enterprise business partners, vendors and project teams. The Cloud Network Engineer should have a background driving high visibility Cloud solutions, implementations, and migration initiatives for the enterprise network. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Networking
- 5+ years’ of professional experience in network communications, network planning, cloud computing, disaster/recovery, or comparable professional job experience.
- Experience implementing changes in Palo Alto and F5.
- Ability to evaluate network infrastructure and connectivity solutions and make recommendations to migrate applications and data workloads to a Cloud based model.
- Microsoft Azure and/or OCI is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise to design, configure, deploy, operate and maintain state of the art cloud network infrastructure and connectivity solutions to support storage and server virtualization technologies, software defined datacenter technologies, hyper-converged datacenter hardware solutions, and software tools to manage and maintain Cloud environments.
- Experience with load balancers.
- Demonstrated consulting, presentation, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in use of network routing, switching and security protocols.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification acceptable with other network credentials.
- 24/7 on-call rotational duties.
- Experience working in a regulatory environment is a plus!
- Experience handling and resolving tickets.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional critical thinking, communication, grammatical and organizational skills.

Your Responsibilities Include:
- Configuration of F5 and Azure load balancers.
- Manage requests and tickets within client’s ServiceNow platform.
- Develop and maintain network scripts to allow operations to deploy and configure environments after operational turnover.
- Participate in the network assessment, design, connectivity, process, and ongoing operation for connecting to the various cloud vendors.
- Conduct technical discovery sessions with vendors and customers.
- Participate in the design, configuration, deployment, and day to day maintenance and operation of a Cloud network and assist with the migration of existing applications to new cloud hosting platforms.
- Provide senior-level network engineering, design, and operation consultation with leadership, project teams and end users to identify network runtime requirements and perform feasibility analysis on potential changes related to security and network architecture.
- Create documentation to install, replace, and upgrade network cloud components.
- Serve as a senior network resource in the Hybrid Cloud enterprise journey encompassing ongoing architecture, design, planning, configuration, implementation, testing, operation and documentation of the enterprise network.
- Participate in assigned network integration projects and deployments and ensure solutions are delivered to meet business requirements.
- Responsible for engineering, implementing and operating Cloud network solutions at the component level, including hands-on configuration, troubleshooting and optimization and metrics for same.
- Provide feedback to leadership and peers on risks identified during business impact analysis, site risk assessments and disaster recovery planning.
