Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a DevOps Engineer – Level 3 or 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse, and innovative individuals. The position is in Boulder, CO.

Position Overview

As a DevOps Engineer – Level 3 on an Internal Research and Development (IRAD) team, you will work in a collaborative environment to understand system requirements, support development environment and its users, and implement tools and pipelines. Many of the algorithms and capabilities implemented by the team will be mathematics and physics intensive complex solutions that will be highly critical to the overall end system performance. In addition to DevOps support, you will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and think outside of the box on our environment/tools to ensure the team developing the software capability has the setup they need.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for planning and evolving processes and infrastructure to execute programs supporting rapid capability maturation and deployment.
  • Integrates development pipelines leveraging automation with test-driven development tools and continuous integration/test frameworks.
  • Define and implement the build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring standards for the program.
  • Work as part of an Agile development team to deliver end-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management framework.
  • Create scripts and/or templates to automate infrastructure provisioning and management tasks.
  • Work closely with development teams to create an automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) system.
  • Work together with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the design of information and operational support systems.
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.

This requisition may be filled at either a DevOps Engineer – Level 3 or a DevOps Engineer – Level 4.

Basic Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications for DevOps Engineer – Leve 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related work experience, or 1 year of related work experience with a PhD.
  • Basic Qualifications for DevOps Engineer – Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 6 years of related work experience, or 4 years of related work experience with a PhD.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • DevOps pipeline experience
  • Experience with CI/CD, containers, and pipelines.
  • Experience with Software Change Control, Change Management, Code Quality, Static Analysis, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Coverity, and Jenkins.
  • Quick to learn and absorb new concepts and information
  • Recent MATLAB and or Python Experience
  • Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis
  • Experience with the battle management and or fire control systems
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and container orchestration.
  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) using tools like Gherkin and Cucumber for automated acceptance testing
  • Experience with Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools and Fuzzing Tools such as: Coverity, Fortify, AND/OR SonarQube
  • Experience developing in an Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.
  • Very solid background in math and physics

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
