Job Description


Position: REMOTE Operations Technician II

# Openings: 1

Location: REMOTE (must work 8-5PM EST hours)

Duration: 6 months extending contract, potential to convert

** THERE IS NO ON CALL ROTATION **


Must Haves:

  • 3+ plus years OpsTech/NocTech experience (Ops exp in Mgmt. Network or IP NOC not just activation or provisioning experience)
  • Experience with Cisco and Juniper platforms (Nokia is nice to have as they are connecting to Nokia network)
  • Layers 1, 2 & 3 switch and router configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with isolation of telecom equipment trouble
  • Advanced customer service, organizational interaction, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication (oral and written), customer service, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Works with intention and urgency



Nice to Haves:

  • Telecom/Cable/Internet Service Provider industry IP NOC experience (will take priority)
  • Cisco or Junos Certification
  • RS232 and X.25 experience
  • VRF, OSPF, BGP experience
  • EMS, UAP, ServiceNow
  • CCIE certification


Day-to-Day: Insight Global is seeking a NOC Technician for one of our large telecommunications clients. This role is 100% remote and will need to work from 8-5PM EST.

This person will monitor and maintain management networks. Opens trouble tickets and works the repair of management network element connectivity with field operations, and other work groups. Lead in driving equipment and facility repair. Knowledge of Ethernet routers / switches. Able to follow MOPs, anticipate problems, and take corrective action proactively. Understands and researches technical issues through vendor documentation. Understands telecom, network topology and repair procedures. Works with minimal supervision in NOC environment. Communicates effectively with peers, other NOC centers, off-net providers, and internal customer with effective oral, written and presentation skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office program suite.



As an Operations Technician, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain excellent acknowledgement and response time to alarms and customer calls.
  • Provide high quality documentation of network failures and maintenance activity.
  • Analyze, diagnose, sectionalize, isolate, and resolve trouble situations.
  • Manage and correlate multiple trouble reports.
  • Manage and guide restoration bridges or calls to facilitate fix with other teams.
  • Provide direct support to technicians in restoration activities associated with alarm and/or outage conditions of elements managed.
  • Provide follow up and closure of assigned trouble tickets.
  • Knowledge of Element Management Systems (EMS), Operational Support Systems (OSS), network inventory, alarming, provisioning and other support systems is a plus
  • Make port and IP assignments from connection requests
  • Fulfill connection requests by configuring and testing the port.
  • Migration work that may start inside a maintenance window.
  • Troubleshooting central office connectivity (Ethernet, RS232, ISDN, X.25, Sync, and Async reverse telnet)


Compensation:

$20/hr to $25/hr.


Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
