As standard this role offers a hybrid working arrangement with a minimum of 3 days working onsite per week.

Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. By accelerating electrons to near light-speed, Diamond generates brilliant beams of light from infra-red to X-rays which are used for academic and industry research and development across a range of scientific disciplines including structural biology, physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, earth and environmental sciences.

About The Role

We now have an excellent opportunity for a talented Cyber Security professional to make their mark in a world class scientific facility and improve cyber security operations in a fast past and complex environment, working as Cyber Security Lead for Diamond’s Corporate IT Cyber Security team.

Diamond utilises a range of IT systems to support our world class science, and this position has responsibility for cyber security across all IT systems in use at Diamond, across both Corporate and Scientific IT disciplines.

You will maintain and improve Diamond's cyber security posture, manage cyber security incidents and work to ensure Diamond maintains operational cadence without interruption.

The role is also responsible for managing external partners (e.g. SOC provider) to ensure 24/7 monitoring and response activities meet with business requirements.

This role is will lead on procurement of new cyber-security related technologies (e.g. EDR) as well as advise on the cyber security risks of other procurement activities such as new hardware and software being purchased by the business or supply chain risks.

You will also be expected to plan and manage Diamond's roadmap to achieving Cyber Essentials/Cyber Essentials Plus and other recognised compliance standards, and to support / lead on Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Risk Management and Information Security.

About You

You will be a talented cyber security professional with a relevant degree or significant equivalent experience, with CISSP certification and/or Cyber/Information security accreditation beneficial.

You Will Demonstrate Experience Of

  • Delivering Cyber Security improvements in line with organisational objectives
  • Heterogeneous environments
  • Disaster recovery planning process and implementation
  • Working within an ISO27000 environment

You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to engage with suppliers and consultants, with line management experience preferred.

You will be highly organised, proactive and an excellent team player.
